The blades of the new reversible BVAXR smoke extract fans havesymmetrical contours that ensure almost consistent performance levels in removing hot fire smoke or supplying fresh air. The axial fans are tested to EN 12101-3 and CE certified. They offer the highest degree of safety and meet even the critical requirements for underground transport systems and car parks.
In the event of a fire, pressure differential systems keep escape routes such as stairwells free from smoke by creating a positive pressure there. This positive pressure prevents the smoke from entering the pressurised area when escape doors are opened. Air flowing from open doors of the pressurised area drives the smoke to vents in the affected storey; the vents, e.g. windows or a smoke extract shaft with a smoke control damper, are controlled to open automatically so that the smoke is exhausted.
Another type of system are purging systems according to a German VDMA standard. With such systems the pressure is maintained, but the entry of smoke is not entirely prevented. Such systems can be used for spaces that do not have to be totally free from smoke.
