VDI 3805 compliant data

The VDI 3805 committee for product data exchange in building services engineering deals with the provision of digital data for the planning and technical design of building services.

This approach requires, to an increasing degree, the provision of machine readable product data.

The guideline aims at creating standardised data record descriptions which are suitable to create product group descriptions that can be uniformly processed; these descriptions should include:

- all technical data required for product design

- the geometry-related data for each product (e.g. disturbance spaces, connections and geometric modules for a complex representation)

VDI 3805 is currently being incorporated into ISO 16757. The ISO standard will become an international standard and hence ensure a universally, uniform standard for building services product data in BIM.

In future you will be able to use different CAD and calculation programs from product catalogues of different manufacturers without any interface issues.
