The Olympic Games 2016 in Rio have come and gone. What remains in Brazil in the wake of the Olympic Games is an improved infrastructure for the South American city, an entire new urban quarter and a whole range of state-of-the-art sports facilities. What the stadia have also inherited are pioneering air conditioning and fire protection systems with a wide range of products from TROX.

Three arenas, the IBC, the international broadcast centre and the main press centre are now all home to TROX products. For example, products from TROX can be found in the velodrome, an arena with a roof shaped like a bicycle helmet. This track cycling arena saw cyclists thrill spectators with gripping races, and will be used in the future as a training centre for professional athletes.

The Future Arena, in which the handball athletes celebrated their success, will remain a fleeting testament to "nomadic architecture". This arena is scheduled to be disassembled and integrated into the construction of four public schools in Rio.

The three-part Carioca Arena will also be used for various types of sports and the plan is for it to become a sports school for 850 students. Here we saw the basketball players compete in Arena 1, an arena with a viewer capacity of 16,000. Meanwhile, the wrestlers and judoka athletes took to the mats in Arena 2 and the international taekwondo athletes battled it out in Carioca 3.

The international broadcast centre also broadcasts the Paralympics, 24 hours a day. The press will gather once again in the press centre, which can accommodate approx. 6,000 work places.

For all of these competitive events and in all of the offices, products from TROX worked effectively behind the scenes to provide an optimum climate and safety. fire dampers, jet nozzles, slot diffusers, ceiling diffusers, non-return dampers, filters and many more products were used.

The Olympic Games in Rio not only provided a stage for sporting dreams to become a reality, but also paved the way for future sporting success. This success was also a feat for TROX in the hot Brazilian winter.
