Maintenance

At the initiative of the owner of the ventilation system, the function of the fire damper must be checked at least every six months in accordance with the specifications of VDI 2052, taking into account the basic maintenance measures in accordance with DIN EN 13306 in conjunction with DIN 31051. If two consecutive tests at intervals of 6 months do not reveal any functional defects, the fire damper only needs to be checked once a year.
In general, closing and reopening is sufficient, also remotecontrolled with a motorised damper actuator or by means of a voltage interruption.
Fire dampers must be included in the regular cleaning schedule for the ventilation and air conditioning system. For details on maintenance and inspection, please refer to the installation and operating manual

Functional description

Type KA2-EU fire dampers close off extract air and exhaust air ducts in commercial kitchens and prevent the spread of fire and smoke via air ducts into neighbouring fire compartments. In standard operation, the fire damper is in the open position. This is made possible by the electrically operated spring return

actuator, which opens the fire damper in a motorised manner. The spring return actuator also enables the fire damper to be activated by management and control equipment (MCE) during maintenance work and functional checks. In the event of a fire, one of the two thermoelectric release units is triggered. From a trigger temperature of 72 °C, the damper blade closes the fire damper within 3 seconds. In addition, an interruption in the supply voltage also causes the fire damper to

close. The closing process is based on the closed current

principle. The control system of the spring return actuator

differentiates between a fire and another interruption.

The limit switch signal can also be used to close other KA2-EU. The Open signal can be used to switch off the supply voltage to other fire dampers. Fire dampers that are further away from the fire then close within 10 seconds. TROXNETCOM offers further solutions. Limit switches can be used for position indication. The

Open limit switch signal must be used to switch off the fan.

Fire dampers with a general building inspectorate licence and a fire resistance duration of 90 min for shutting off extract and exhaust air ducts in commercial kitchens in the event of a fire. Reliable closing thanks to the low-maintenance spring return actuator, even with existing deposits. Tested for fire resistance properties in accordance with DIN EN 1366-2. Airtight casing, tightness class B in accordance with DIN EN 1751, made of galvanised sheet steel, optionally made of stainless steel; flowindependent design. Shut-off damper blade made of special insulating material, metal-coated, airtight closing. With 2 compact thermal release mechanisms 72 °C, 2 electrical limit switches to indicate damper position CLOSED or OPEN, fan switch-off and integration into the MCE. Control unit and connection casing with plug/socket connection integrated in the spring return actuator. Designed for 10000 cycles and a closing time of 3 s in the event of fire and 10 s in ventilation mode. Suitable for mortar-based and dry mortarless installation in solid walls or ceilings, shaft walls with metal studs, lightweight partition walls with metal or wooden studs and connection to horizontal and vertical air ducts with a connecting flange.
